Abseiling:
Abseil down our 7m tower supervised by a qualified instructor.

Air Rifles:
Slug shooting at targets within our special purpose built shooting range.

Archery:
Try your hand with our recurve bows. Can you hit the bull’s eye? For a bit of fun, try aiming at a prize (e.g. bag of chips) pinned on the board.

Astronomy 1 with Pipehenge:
Discover more about our universe through this exciting activity. We will send you a manual of before, during and after camp activities. Make a suntracker, use pipehenge as an observatory, plot shadows, work out solar noon?

Astronomy 2 with Pipehenge:
As above but with an instructor who will lead you through the pipehenge during the day and again at night.

Bush Skills:
Learn about camping and survival in the bush through an instructional video and shelter building.

Bush Study
Three activities to learn about our wonderful native bush. Look ‘Inside The Bush’ to find out what is going on in there, Learn to ‘Match The Trees” to recognise a small number of our great natives, and ‘Shake The Branches’ to see what small creatures live in the leafy bushes at the bush edge.

Bush Walks:
We are close to many great bush walks or there’s a 40min loop track here on site - view some great Kauri trees.

Burma Trail:
Choice of two, depending on your abilities. Do it at night, or use blindfolds during the day.

Climbing Wall:
Try our new indoor climbing wall designed to be like real rock!! Climb to the roof, reach the cave, conquer the overhang, & learn to belay. Plenty of challenge & fun.

Confidence Course:
Can you get around without touching the ground? Maneuver through the swinging logs, cross the Burma Bridge plus lots more.

Creation Factory:
Choose from one of our four indoor crafts: Rock Painting, Paper Making, Nature Collages or 2D and 3D Sculptures. All materials supplied.

Evening Programme
with a Staff Member:

Games and activities in our Rec. Centre for your group (a good way to tire them out before bed) and then finish with a bed-time story reflecting Carey Parks' Christian values.

First Aid Levels 1 & 2:
Outdoor First Aid. An interactive workshop with an instructor, covering breaks, sprains, cuts, bleeding, stings and burns. Childrens will fill in their own worksheet and practise applying bandages etc.

Flying Fox:
Suspended 8m up in the air, leap off the tower and experience how it feels to fly.

Inventors Lab:
A fun, interactive centre where you invent solutions to our problems using only newspaper, wire, straws and sticky-tape. All materials supplied.

Kayaking 1:
Experience kayaking in a safe but fun environment. You provide your own instructor who should have previous kayaking experience particularly with group management skills.

Kayaking 2:
Participate in lots of confidence and team building exercises with our qualified instructor. Learn about entering and exiting, rafting up and swapping kayaks. Play games that teach kayaking skills.

Mini Golf:
A fun activity. Challenge each other to a game on our 10-hole course.

Orienteering:
Try one of our orienteering courses, with the aid of maps or compasses,
or learn to use compasses with "Geometric Shapes".

Outdoor Cooking:
Lots of yummy fun! Choose from Toasties over an open fire or Pikelets over gas cookers.

Poles & Planks:
Can your teams overcome the challenges involving poles & planks & ropes & tyres? Traverse the Mohawk Walk, pass through the Spiders Web, keep balanced on The Big Log, calculate the Tyre Puzzle, & more. To come out victorious your teams will have to learn to work together.

Problem Solving:
Cross the ‘Shark Infested River’, escape from the ‘Peanut Butter Bog’ and more problems that need solving.

Recreation Centre:
A whole range of Indoor Sports available plus Carey Park’s famous ‘Scream Machine’ - fly around the gym on the end of a 5m rope!

Stream Scientists:
Perform tests on our stream, find a variety of waterlife, record the results and determine how clean our stream is.
Please note: Carey Park is working with WaiCare to help make your stream experience as beneficial as possible. If you would like to include this activity, please contact us at least 2 weeks before your camp so that we can send you a “pre-camp stream scientists package” to maximise the learning potential of this activity.

Swim Hole, Bush Slide
and Rope Swing:

Shoot down through the bush on our water slide or swing out on the rope and plunge into the fresh water swimming hole. A great place to cool off!

The Sports Bag
A great way to start &/or finish your camp with interactive games for your entire group. The Sports Bag is an organised package of tabloid games – with instructions and all equipment. Simple, fun, and active, a great introduction and conclusion to any camp. Enough games to fill half a day.

The Tree Hut:
Want an adventure? We have a tree hut set on poles in the bush. A great place to read a story, play some games, or you can even sleep in the hammocks!
